I've heard folks discuss their disgruntlement with Mother's Day. It's become a commercial nightmare, just like any other "holiday" in this country.
But the problem is, everyday should be Mother's Day. But it's not. Moms just don't get enough appreciation for what they do on a daily basis.
Maybe it's because no one knows how challenging it is. Or maybe it's because moms are too modest and don't want to ask for two holidays a year.
So, instead of griping about the bad diamonds commercials, I'm going to enjoy the holiday that lets me bask in all the hard work I've done over the last three years. And if that's what it takes for me to get a little gift, a card, and some time to put my feet up, then I'm perfectly happy to feed into it.
But it's also a time for us to remember that there's still a lot of work to do for moms. A one-day-a-year holiday is a start -- but rights, affordable childcare, and paid maternity leave? Now that would be something to celebrate.
Let's get on it, people!

I couldn't agree more!!
