Updated! He made it back on his own. Thank goodness!
My mom just called me. My dog Indy is missing. She's been keeping them for us while we squat at the in-laws. But today she decided to let my two leash-trained "do not let them loose" dogs off the leash in her neighborhood park.
You know. The park that's full of squirrels and deer. And it just so happens to be 25 degrees and snowing.
Just when I think that my in-laws are the craziest, my mom pops back into the picture and shows them up.
"But you said I could let them off the leash!" she tells me.
No. I said you can let them out of the house one by one very quickly on a very cold day to pee and they will come back in. I did not say take them to a huge park together, let them off the leash, and watch them run on the ONE snow day we're having this year.
Her house is in front of woods. It's cold. and I'm ticked.
And to add insult to injury, I haven't heard from her in three weeks. Yes. My mom who lives only an hour away has not called, emailed, or come by since the baby was born. Oh wait. That's not true. She called me a few days ago to see when I could take the dogs back. And I got a spam email today from her -- with no message -- just the darn crappy spam "boo Jane Fonda... whatever" email.
What's even worse is that I predicted that I wouldn't hear from her until she would call to ask me that. Sometimes I wish I didn't know my mom that well.
The combination of no sleep, two kids, the in-laws, and a roaring case of hemmarrhoids has put me on the edge. But what's worse is knowing that I have not ONE sane family member to rely on.

I am really sorry to hear this -- I hope your dog returns safe and sound, and that someone in your family metamorphoses into a sane person to help you. :) Cheers!

Oh Kristen,
I'm so glad he came back. I would be completely frantic. You're a strong person to not have killed anyone yet.

Phew, I am glad he came back.
But I am sorry you have this additional stress right now. Ugh.

I feel your pain (and the emotional stress too) . . . thank God for good friends and a safe place to vent (and thank God for smart dogs) . . .

I may not be sane, but you can rely on me! Is there anything I can do for you? Let me know!
And I'm glad Indy found his way back! He's such a sweet dog!
